International Yogurt Company Reports First Quarter Sales
PORTLAND, Ore., March 13, 1998 /PRNewswire/ -- International Yogurt Company,
(NASDAQ:YOCM) Portland manufacturer and wholesaler of YOCREAM(R) frozen
desserts and snacks, reported sales of $1,613,935 for its first fiscal quarter
ending January 31, 1998 up 7% compared to the corresponding quarter in 1997
The Company attributed the sales growth to expansion of its private label,
foodservice and international business.
The Company historically incurs a net loss during the winter months. This
year's first quarter loss of $54,428 repr
esented a 45% improvement compared
with $98,646 in 1997. The improved results in the first quarter reflect a
continuation of the favorable upward trends for the Company.
The Company also announced that its line of fruit smoothies will be
introduced throughout the Coffee People chain in March of this year. Coffee
People and YOCREAM(R) personnel collaborated on unique recipes for this
healthy and zestful beverage that is being utilized by many consumers as a
breakfast or lunch substitute.
The YOCREAM(R) line of fruit smoothies, adaptable to both blender and
dispenser operation, is presently being test marketed by other national food
operators. "The feedback has been phenomenal," stated Michael Sheridan,
director of foodservice sales. "We expect some major hits from this product
soon. Maybe even some home runs."
